A-Rod releases statement on Twitter controversy
Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez has issued a brief statement regarding his recent tweet and GM Brian Cashman's strong reaction to it.
You'll recall that Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez recently tweeted that his doctor told him his surgically repaired hip was well enough to allow him to begin a minor-league rehab assignment. You'll also recall that Yankees GM Brian Cashman had a very candid reaction to said Tweet:
"You know what, when the Yankees want to announce something, [we will]. Alex should just shut the f--- up. That's it. I'm going to call Alex now."
Now, a chastened Rodriguez has released a statement pursuant to Cashman's flip-out:
“I will continue to work hard until my efforts get me back in pinstripes and help my team win. The tweet was pure excitement about Dr. Kelly’s prognosis.”
It's not often I find myself typing the words, "I take A-Rod's side in all of this," but that's precisely the case this time around. Cashman's reaction was pretty unprofessional, in contrast to A-Rod's response to it.
