Angel Pagan needs surgery, will miss 12 weeks
The setback Angel Pagan suffered on his minor-league rehab stint last Thursday will cost him most of the season.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy told reporters Monday (including Andrew Baggerly) that Pagan will undergo surgery to repair his torn hamstring and will miss 12 weeks. That amount of time from right now puts us in the middle of September, so with any setbacks at all, Pagan could miss the rest of the season.
Pagan, 31, is hitting .262/.314/.374 with 10 doubles, one triple, three homers, 24 RBI and 30 runs scored in 46 games. He signed a four-year, $45 million contract this past offseason to remain in San Francisco, where he won a World Series ring last October.
