Catcher John Jaso has been placed on the 7-day concussion DL by the Athletics. The team called up catcher/outfielder Stephen Vogt to fill the roster spot.

Jaso, 29, suffered the concussion late in Wednesday's game after taking a foul ball off the mask. He hit a home run earlier in the game. By rule, Jaso must be cleared by MLB before he can be activated off the DL.

In 70 games before the injury, Jaso hit .271/.387/.372 (116 OPS+) with three homers. The left-handed swinger was particularly productive against righties, hitting .282/.405/.398 (118 OPS+) with more walks (37) than strikeouts (36).

Vogt, 28, went 2-for-13 during a short stint with the Athletics earlier this season. He has gone 2-for-38 in his short big league career. Vogt has put up an impressive .324/.398/.547 batting line with 13 homers in 74 Triple-A games this year.
