Boston mayor hopes Red Sox win 'World Series cup'
On Tuesday, Mayor Thomas Menino of Boston wished the Red Sox luck as they pursue the ... World Series cup?
Oh my. This is embarrassing. Mayor Thomas Menino of Boston asked the people of his city to be safe during the Red Sox's title drive on Tuesday morning, but he made a bit of a mistake in the process. From the Boston Globe:
Menino asks fans to be responsible as the Red Sox try to bring back the "World Series cup."— Maria Cramer (@GlobeMCramer) October 22, 2013
The World Series cup, eh? Is that supposed to be a mix between the World Series and the Stanley Cup? The Bruins are pretty good you know, but they had their shot in June.
Menino's sports flubs have become pretty famous over the years. He referred to former Patriots kicker Adam Vinateri as "Varitek" on one occasion, for example.
Godspeed, Red Sox. May you bask in that World Series cup glory next week.
