Brewers announce winner of 'youniform' contest

As breathlessly chronicled in this space, the Brewers have been holding a "design-a-youniform" contest in which citizen costumiers dream up some Milwaukee threads that will be worn during actual spring training games. And now we have a winner!

The Brewers inform us said winner is Ben Peters of Richfield, Minn. Here's an image of Ben's championship design put into action:

My hearty and coveted approval is granted. And here's an image of the objectively bad-ass uniform patch:

I have many complaints about this world, and one of those complaints is that we don't see enough of the Brewers' "Beer Barrel Man." So thank you, Mr. Peters, for attempting to remedy this.

In related matters, the Brewers announced the winning design will be worn during exhibition games on March 22 in Phoenix and again on March 30 in Milwaukee. As for Mr. Peters himself, the Brewers detailed his handsome reward in a press release ...

As the winner, Peters will receive a trip to Brewers Spring Training 2013 to see the winning design on the field at a game. The hats and uniforms from the winning design will be worn by all Brewers players and coaches at the Friday, March 22 Spring Training game at Maryvale Baseball Park against the Chicago Cubs. Peters will receive airfare for two, tickets to the game in Arizona to see the uniform in action and $1,500 for hotel, ground transportation and other incidentals. He will also have the opportunity to select the jersey and hat worn by one player from that day, plus will receive ten t-shirts and hats made from his design.

As a board-certified uniform dork, I would encourage all teams to follow the Brewers' lead in holding such a contest. Well done, folks.
