UPDATE: Posey has a "little fracture" in the finger, manager Bruce Bochy told Andrew Baggarly of CSN Bay Area. He'll take a few days off and if he can tolerate the pain after that, they'll let him play through it.

The Giants have sent reigning NL MVP Buster Posey for x-rays on his injured right ring finger, reports Alex Pavlovic of the Mercury News. The results are not yet available.

Posey, 26, suffered a torn fingernail while blocking a pitch in the dirt in the sixth inning on Tuesday. He finished the inning but was lifted after that and has not played since. Posey told Pavlovic he feels better but is still not ready to take swings.

In 130 games this year, Posey has hit .309/.377/.475 (145 OPS+) with 14 home runs. The Giants are in last place in the NL West at 62-77, so there's no real reason to rush Posey back to the lineup at this point of the year.
