Cardinals place Kolten Wong on DL with shoulder soreness
Cardinals rookie second baseman Kolten Wong has hit the DL with ongoing shoulder issues.
The Cardinals on Saturday placed rookie second baseman Kolten Wong on the disabled list because of left shoulder soreness. To replace Wong on the active roster, the club has recalled outfielder Shane Robinson.
Wong's been battling shoulder discomfort for most of June, so rest is needed at this point. On the season, the 23-year-old is batting .228/.282/.304 with nine steals in 45 games.
In Wong's absence, veteran Mark Ellis will likely see primary duty at second base with Daniel Descalso providing depth.
