CC Sabathia out for season
Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia is out for the rest of the 2013 season due to a hamstring injury, the club has announced.
In his last start on Friday vs. San Francisco, LHP CC Sabathia suffered a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, which requires a recovery time of approximately eight weeks. As a result, Sabathia will not be able to pitch during the rest of the 2013 season.
Sabathia, 33, ends the season 14-13 with a 4.78 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 175 strikeouts in 211 innings. The rate stats (ERA, WHIP) are the worst in a single season in Sabathia's career, and he currently leads the majors with 112 earned runs allowed.
The Yankees enter their final week of play four games out of the second wild card spot.
