Dan Uggla off DL, in lineup for Braves
Braves second baseman Dan Uggla is ready for game action after undergoing corrective eye surgery.
Braves second baseman Dan Uggla has been sidelined since before undergoing LASIK eye surgery on Aug. 13, but now he's off the DL and penciled into the Atlanta lineup for Wednesday night's game against the Indians.
In order to make room for Uggla on the active roster, the Braves have optioned outfielder Todd Cunningham to Triple-A Gwinnett.
This season, the 33-year-old Uggla is batting a disappointing .186/.307/.389 with 21 homers in 112 games. The Braves' hope, obviously, is that the corrective procedure improves Uggla's vision at the plate and, by extension, his numbers.
For his career, Uggla has a 111 OPS+ and 231 homers across parts of eight major-league seasons.
