Dodgers lefty Scott Elbert to undergo Tommy John surgery
More bad injury news for the Dodgers: Lefty Scott Elbert is facing elbow surgery and will be out until well into the 2014 season.
Elbert will undergo the procedure next week and be sidelined for the next 12 to 16 months. This will be the third time within a calendar year that Elbert has had surgery on his elbow. He also underwent shoulder surgery in 2007.
This season, the 27-year-old Elbert has pitched to a 2.20 ERA in 32 2/3 innings. For his career, he owns a 108 ERA+, 1.34 WHIP and 2.24 K/BB ratio.
