Mere days before ace Clayon Kershaw returns to the rotation, the Dodgers have lost lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu. On Friday, the team placed Ryu on the 15-day disabled list because of shoulder inflammation.

Ryu had been scheduled to start Sunday against the Marlins. As MLB.com's Ken Gurnick tweets, Stephen Fife seems likely to take the mound in Ryu's stead, although the Dodgers at this writing haven't made an announcement.

This season, the 27-year-old Ryu has an ERA of 3.00 after seven starts. In his rookie season of 2013, he pitched to a 3.00 ERA (120 ERA+) and 3.14 K/BB ratio in 192 innings of work.
