Erick Aybar named to All-Star Game as replacement for Alex Gordon
Angels shortstop Erick Aybar is heading to the All-Star Game as an injury replacement for Alex Gordon.
Aybar, 30, is heading to the Midsummer Classic for the first time in his nine-year career. He is hitting .283/.318/.417 (108 OPS+) with 22 doubles, six home runs and 11 stolen bases in 88 games this season.
The 30-year-old Gordon is hitting .268/.348/.425 (112 OPS+) with 24 doubles and nine homers this year. He was elected to his second straight All-Star Game this summer.
The full All-Star Game rosters are right here. Aybar will join Mike Trout to give the Angels two All-Star representatives.
