Cubs pitcher Jon Lester had a very weird -- though mostly great -- day on Sunday. He took the hard-luck loss despite overall being pretty dominant. In 7 2/3 innings. he struck out 10 while only allowing four hits. The lone run he gave up was a solo homers to Nolan Arenado that just barely scraped into the left-field basket.

Of course, it was more than that made this a weird day for the veteran lefty. He doubled in his second at-bat. Remember, he set the major-league record for most at-bats without a hit last season. This was his first career extra-base hit:

MLB.com's Statcast measured the exit velocity on that hit 109.9 miles per hour, which they report is the fourth-highest for a pitcher in the past two seasons.

On the other end of the spectrum, Lester's much-reported issues throwing the ball to first base surfaced with this hilariously ugly two-hopper to Anthony Rizzo:

An out's an out, right?

Overall it was a pretty good individual day for Lester, but given that the Cubs gave him no run support in a 2-0 loss, the hunch is he isn't very happy about it.
