GIF: David Ortiz's Game 1 blast ties Beltran on all-time postseason list

MORE: Beltran robs Papi

Cardinals reliever Kevin Siegrist is about to deliver a first-pitch, 96-mph four-seam fastball to Red Sox warrior-poet David Ortiz. Mr. Ortiz is about to do something vicious to the pitch in question ...

Prior to the pitch you see above, the rookie Siegrist had thrown 726 pitches in his career, counting the 2013 postseason. Only one of those pitches had been hit for a home run, and that was by a right-handed batter (Starlin Castro) back on July 12.

David Ortiz, though, cares about writing history, not reading it. That home run jumped him up a notch on the list of postseason mashers. With 16 career home runs in the playoffs and World Series, Papi now sits in a tie for 8th all-time ... a dead heat with one Carlos Beltran.
