Umpires have the most thankless job in baseball. We rip them apart whenever they make a mistake but rarely say a word when they do a good job. They also take a beating whenever they're behind home plate. Umpires get hit with foul tips just as often as catchers and they're in a much more vulnerable position.

Sometimes they get hit with more than foul tips too. Example: Home plate ump Gabe Morales took a flying bat to the face on Wednesday night, courtesy of Twins batter Eduardo Nunez:

Morales, who is in his first year as a big-league umpire, shook off the blow and continued the game. He's tough, he's an umpire.
