GIF: Joe Mauer makes a no-look backhand grab (again)
Joe Mauer showed off his skills by backhanding a ball off the backstop for the second time in a year.
Even though he's a catcher, there aren't many players who can match Joe Mauer's freakish athletic ability. He's able to do things other people simply can't dream of doing, such as his backhand grab of an errant ball caroming off the backstop:
That happened some time last season. I ruled it out as a lucky grab at the time, the kind of stuff we see from time to time.
On Saturday afternoon, Mauer did it again:
Pretty much an identical situation with the lefty batter fouling a pitch away.
Well played, Mauer. Well played, indeed.
