GIF: Rays throw two Reds out at the plate on the same play
The Reds pulled off the rare double TOOTBLAN on Sunday afternoon, having two runners throwing out at the plate on the same play.
The Reds were in position to break Sunday afternoon's game against the Rays wide open in the second inning. They had the bases loaded with one out against lefty Cesar Ramos, who is making his fourth career start and first since 2012. They could have put the game to bed right there.
Shortstop Zack Cozart drove in two runs with a ground-rule double, bringing pitcher Tony Cingrani to the plate. Since there were runners on second and third with one out, all he had to do was put the ball in play to drive in a run. Grounding into a double play was impossible, right? Wrong:
The rare double TOOTBLAN. Well done, Reds.
