IMPORTANT: Angels trade Scioscia's kid for Wayne Gretzky's kid
The sons of two Los Angeles sports heroes were traded for each other on Thursday.
Ready for a fun (minor) trade? The sons of two Los Angeles sports heroes were traded for each other on Thursday:
How about that?
Matt Scioscia is a 25-year-old first baseman who has hit .222/.264/.280 with three home runs in 127 career games, all at the Single-A level. The Angels drafted him twice (2007 and 2011), presumably as a favor to his father.
Trevor Gretzky, 21, was the Cubs seventh round pick in 2011. He's a career .288/.335/.332 hitter with one homer in 76 career games, again all at Single-A. Gretzky is a first baseman/left fielder. Seems like he's the better prospect of the two.
Mike Scioscia, as you surely know, had a long playing career with the Dodgers before taking over the manager of the Angels way back in 2000. Wayne Gretzky is simply the greatest hockey player in the history of the universe, and he spent parts of eight seasons with the Los Angeles Kings.
