Indians starting pitcher Brett Myers has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right forearm, the club announced. As a corresponding move, reliever Fernando Nieve has been promoted from Triple-A Columbus and Corey Kluber will take Myers' spot in the rotation.
Myers, 32, couldn't have gotten off to a much worse start to the 2013 season. He's 0-3 with an 8.02 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in four appearances. He leads the majors in earned runs (19) and home runs allowed (10). And that's in only 21 1/3 innings.
Kluber, 27, has a 1.80 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in five innings this season. In 12 career starts, Kluber is 2-5 with a 5.14 ERA.
