Jays' Jose Reyes leaves Friday's game with left ankle injury
Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes left Friday's game against the Royals with an apparent left ankle injury after an awkward slide into second base.
UPDATE: Reyes has a left ankle sprain, the team announced. He is heading for more tests, including an MRI.
Reyes was in a lot of pain following the play and remained on the ground for several minutes. The trainers stabilized his foot/ankle before taking him off.
The 29-year-old Reyes has a history of hamstring problems, but this was obviously a fluke injury. Toronto acquired him from the Marlins as part of their 12-player blockbuster this offseason.
