Jean Segura leaves Brewers after 9-month-old son passes away
Brewers shortstop Jean Segura has left the team and returned home to the Dominican Republic following the death of his 9-month-old son.
Horrible news out of Milwaukee. Brewers shortstop Jean Segura has left the team to travel home to the Dominican Republic following the death of his 9-month-old son, manager Ron Roenicke told reporters.
Roenicke was said to be shaken when he declined to speak to the media following Friday's game, citing a death in the family of one of his players without revealing any details. Segura will, understandably, be given as much as needed and return to the team when ready.
"This is a game we’re playing," said Roenicke on Saturday. "It’s certainly not as important as life, but we know it’s important to a lot of people in the community."
Our condolences go out to Segura and his family.
