Jean Segura struck in face by Ryan Braun practice swing
Brewers shortstop Jean Segura was lifted from Saturday night's game against the Cubs after being struck in the face/head by a Ryan Braun practice swing.
It's a bizarre and scary scene in Milwaukee as Brewers shortstop Jean Segura was lifted from the game between frames after being struck in the face/head by a Ryan Braun practice swing in the home dugout.
Here's some footage of the incident:
As you can also see above, Segura had to be helped up the tunnel to the clubhouse.
Segura, who's hitting .239/.272/.330 in his age-24 season, played the top of the first against the Cubs but after the injury was replaced by Jeff Bianchi.
After the game, manager Ron Roenicke said Segura did not have a facial fracture or concussion, so that's obviously good news. He'll likely avoid the DL, and as Tom Haudricourt tweets, Segura should be able to avoid plastic surgery provided the site of his stitches heal properly.
