Jim Johnson accountable for rough start
New A's closer Jim Johnson is 0-2 during his team's 1-2 start. He's stepped up and taken full blame, saying the club should be 3-0 right now.
On Opening Day, he entered the game in the ninth inning of a 0-0 game and faced five batters. The result was one out recorded, two hits, a walk and a hit batsman. He ended up taking the loss after allowing the only two runs scored of the game.
Fast-forward to Wednesday in the nightcap of a day-night doubleheader and things get worse. Johnson entered the game with a 4-3 A's lead. He would allow a pair of singles, a fielder's choice, a single, an intentional walk and a sacrifice fly before mercifully being removed from the game. The lead was blown and the A's ended up losing, 6-4.
So in two outings, Johnson is sporting a 45.00 ERA and has taken the loss twice. The A's are 1-2, too.
That's rough. Give Johnson credit for taking it on the chin in the locker room after Wednesday's debacle.

Not that this will endear him to any A's fans, but that's about all he can do now. What's done is done.
