Jose Bautista day-to-day with mild hamstring strain
Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista is day-to-day with a mild hamstring strain.
The Blue Jays lost both Brett Lawrie and Jose Bautista to injury during Sunday's game, but only one is serious. Lawrie was placed on the disabled list with a broken finger Monday while Bautista is only day-to-day with a hamstring issue.
#BlueJays manager John Gibbons says Jose Bautista has mild hamstring strain, will miss "hopefully just a couple of days"— Shi Davidi (@ShiDavidi) June 23, 2014
Bautista, 33, had reportedly been playing through some discomfort before speaking up on Sunday. He is hitting .305/.433/.526 (163 OPS+) with 15 home runs and a league-leading 59 walks in 77 games so far this season.
Bautista's injury comes at an unfortunate time. The Blue Jays play three games against the second place Yankees this week. New York swept Toronto last week to move to within 1.5 games of the AL East lead.
