Josh Hamilton leaves game with left thumb injury
After a hot start to the season, Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton is now dealing with a thumb injury.
Angels left fielder Josh Hamilton was forced to exit Tuesday night's loss in Seattle due to a left thumb injury, per the club's broadcast. Not much more is known just yet, but the issue was enough that Hamilton was removed in favor of pinch-hitter Ian Stewart with the tying run on first base in the ninth.
Hamilton is off to a hot start this season, hitting .444/.545/.741 with two doubles, two homers and six RBI through the first eight games. As such, an injury hampering his performance at the plate moving forward would be pretty bad luck.
Collin Cowgill is currently the Angels' fourth outfielder and J.B. Shuck is in Triple-A -- should the Angels need to place Hamilton on the DL.
For now, though, it could well be a day to day type thing.
