Kemp clears waivers, Ramirez claimed, but neither likely leaving LA
Matt Kemp and three other Dodgers clear waivers, but Hanley Ramirez does not. What's it all mean? Probably nothing as all will likely stay put.
Ramirez most likely will just be blocked from being traded, though technically the claiming team has three days to work out a trade. The Dodgers obviously need Ramirez, their star shortstop, for their pennant push.
Kemp had been interested in a trade earlier, but the Dodgers look wise to hold him as he has gotten very hot. That he went unclaimed shows no team was willing to take the approximately $115 million remaining on his contract at this time -- not that the Dodgers would be interested in letting him go for nothing anyway.
