LISTEN: Matt Harvey interview turns into bizarre Qualcomm sales pitch
Instead of talking about his elbow injury during a radio interview on Wednesday, Mets righty Matt Harvey went into a bizarre sales pitch.
As our own Jon Heyman reported Tuesday, Mets right-hander Matt Harvey will attempt to rehab the partially torn ligament in his right elbow rather than undergo Tommy John surgery. The surgery would keep him out for all of 2014.
Naturally, the injury figures to be a hot topic during any Harvey interview for the foreseeable future. But rather than talk about his elbow, the right-hander burst into a bizarre and awkward sales pitch for Qualcomm during a radio appearance on Wednesday. Here's the clip; the weirdness begins around the 1:30 mark:
That got out of hand in a hurry. Really went off the rails.
A few hours later, Harvey issued an apology via Twitter:
I’ve had a few rough outings on the mound, that was a rough outing on the radio this morning...— Matt Harvey (@MattHarvey33) September 18, 2013
I guess you could say Harvey was a poor ... /shades ... pitch man.
