Today's Scoreboard | Playoff Schedule | League Leaders | Standings | Wild-Card Standings
After 2,428 total games, the 2016 Major League Baseball regular season is over.
Although the six division races were decided long ago, it wasn't until Sunday afternoon that three of the four wild-card spots were decided. The Orioles (BAL 5, NYY 2), Giants (SF 7, LAD 1), and Blue Jays (TOR 2, BOS 1) all won Game 162 to clinch the final three postseason spots. Here is the 2016 playoff field:
AMERICAN LEAGUE
East: Boston Red Sox
Central: Cleveland Indians
West: Texas Rangers
Wild cards: Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays
NATIONAL LEAGUE
East: Washington Nationals
Central: Chicago Cubs
West: Los Angeles Dodgers
Wild cards: New York Mets and San Francisco Giants
We also said goodbye to some all-time greats Sunday as well, starting with iconic Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully. He called the final game of his 67-year career. Here is his final sign-off:

Padres announcer Dick Enberg is also retiring after the season. With no more Scully and Enberg, West Coast baseball is going to have a very different sound going forward.
The Red Sox honored David Ortiz prior to Sunday's game at Fenway Park, though with the BoSox having clinched the division title, Big Papi still has more games to play. Boston will take on the Indians in the ALDS starting later this week.
Phillies slugger Ryan Howard and Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira were also honored by their clubs. Teixeira is retiring this offseason, and while Howard hopes to continue playing, the Phillies are not planning to pick up his club option for 2017. He's a free agent.
And finally, the final game at Turner Field in Atlanta was also played Sunday. The Braves shut out the Tigers in the ballpark finale (ATL 1, DET 0), and they'll move into brand new SunTrust Park for the 2017 season. Atlanta played very well in the final few weeks of the regular season. Their rebuild is starting to bear fruit.
