Orioles third baseman Manny Machado was carted off the field with an apparent left knee injury after running through the first base bag awkwardly on Monday afternoon. Here are two looks at the play:

Machado was in obvious pain and spent several minutes on the ground with the trainer. He was eventually carted off the field.

Since breaking into the big leagues last August, the 21-year-old Machado has started all 207 of the team's games at third base. He has been an ironman.

In 155 games coming into Monday, Machado has hit .282/.313/.431 (99 OPS+) with 14 home runs and a league-leading 51 doubles. He also leads the league in at-bats (663) and plate appearances (706), another testament to his early-career durability.

Following the game, manager Buck Showalter said Machado will accompany the team back to Baltimore and will have tests on Tuesday. He had an X-ray but they must still take an MRI. Showalter indicated Machado is done for the year but did not say so definitively.
