Marlins re-sign bench bat Greg Dobbs for $1.7 million
Bench player Greg Dobbs will return to the Marlins next season.
The Marlins have re-signed Greg Dobbs, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com has confirmed. It's a one-year deal worth $1.7 million.
Dobbs, 35, hit .229/.305/.301 (68 OPS+) with two home runs and 22 RBI in 226 plate appearances this season. The left-handed hitter went 10 for 47 (.213) with seven RBI as a pinch-hitter. He played first base and right field this season but also has experience at third base and in left field.
In parts of 10 big-league seasons, Dobbs is a .263/.308/.390 (85 OPS+) career hitter. Next year will be his third with the Marlins. He has also played for the Phillies and Mariners.
