Miguel Cabrera back in lineup for Tigers
Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabera, who's been battling an array of nagging injuries, will play Tuesday night.
Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera, AL-MVP frontrunner and Triple Crown contender, has been battling a variety of nagging injuries lately, but CBSSports.com's Danny Knobler tweets that he's in Jim Leyland's lineup for the Tuesday night contest against the Red Sox.
Specifically, Cabrera has been limited by hip and abdominal problems in recent days, and he's missed the Tigers' last three games.
In 127 games this season, Cabrera leads baseball in batting average (.358), on-base percentage (.449), slugging percentage (.681), OPS (1.130), OPS+ (200), total bases (329), hits (173) and RBI (130) while ranking second in home runs (43).
Insofar as the Triple Crown is concerned, Cabrera trails Chris Davis of the Orioles by four dingers, so any lost playing time is critical. Cabrera is bidding to become the first ever back-to-back Triple Crown winner.
