Later Friday night, the National League Division Series will get underway when the San Francisco Giants visit the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Here's how you can watch Game 1.
Both clubs announced their 25-man NLDS roster on Friday morning. Here are the players the Giants will use in the best-of-five series.
Pitchers (12): Ty Blach, Madison Bumgarner, Santiago Casilla, Johnny Cueto, George Kontos, Derek Law, Javier Lopez, Matt Moore, Sergio Romo, Jeff Samardzija, Will Smith, Hunter Strickland
Catchers (2): Trevor Brown, Buster Posey
Infielders (6): Brandon Belt, Brandon Crawford, Conor Gillaspie, Eduardo Nunez, Joe Panik, Kelby Tomlinson
Outfielders (5): Gregor Blanco, Gorkys Hernandez, Angel Pagan, Hunter Pence, Denard Span
The Wild Card Game is considered a separate postseason round, so the Giants were able to make changes to their roster after beating the Mets on Wednesday night to advance to the NLDS. The most notable addition: Nunez. The team's regular third baseman has been nursing a hamstring injury, but he's on the roster.
Ehire Adrianza, Jarrett Parker, and Steven Okert were removed from the Wild Card Game roster in favor of Nunez, Blach, and Moore. Moore figures to get the Game 4 starte though Blach was mighty impressive against the Dodgers last weekend. He figures to do his work out of the bullpen. After starting the Wild Card Game, Bumgarner will not be able to pitch until Game 3 of the NLDS.
Now here is the 25-man roster the Cubs will use in the NLDS:
Pitchers (11): Jake Arrieta, Aroldis Chapman, Carl Edwards Jr., Justin Grimm, Kyle Hendricks, John Lackey, Jon Lester, Mike Montgomery, Hector Rondon, Pedro Strop, Travis Wood
Catchers (3): Willson Contreras, Miguel Montero, David Ross
Infielders (6): Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Addison Russell, Tommy La Stella, Ben Zobrist
Outfielders (5): Albert Almora Jr., Chris Coghlan, Dexter Fowler, Jason Heyward, Jorge Soler
No real surprises here. Cubs manager Joe Maddon has the ability to move guys like Contreras, Bryant, Coghlan, and Zobrist around, which gives him a lot of flexibility. Giants skipper Bruce Bochy loves his matchups and Maddon has plenty of weapons on his bench to counter. Should be a fun series.
