Former Houston Astros outfielder J.D. Martinez hit four home runs on Saturday. While playing a doubleheader with the Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers , he slugged three homers in the first game and another in the second. Pittsburgh Pirates : Activated C Chris Stewart (knee) off the DL and sent C Tony Sanchez to Triple-A in a corresponding move ... Designated 1B Travis Ishikawa for assignment, the team announced. The move clears a roster spot for the recently acquired 1B Ike Davis .
Rangers: Placed OF Jim Adduci on the 15-day DL with a broken finger, the club announced. IF Luis Sardinas was recalled to take his spot on the roster.
Tampa Bay Rays : Called up LHP C.J. Riefenhauser from Triple-A, it was announced. RHP Brad Boxberger was sent down in a corresponding move.
Cincinnati Reds : LHP Sean Marshall (shoulder) was activated off the DL, the team announced. RHP Curtis Partch was sent to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Chicago White Sox : RHP Felipe Paulino was placed on the 15-day DL with shoulder inflammation, it was announced. RHP Andre Rienzo was called up to fill his roster spot.
Los Angeles Angels : LHP Sean Burnett (elbow) threw an "outstanding" bullpen session, according to manager Mike Scioscia. There is still no timetable for his return, however. (Orange County Register)
Astros: Prospect OF Delino DeShields Jr. has a broken cheek bone, suffered when he was hit by a pitch.
