- Sources tell our man in the chopper that MLB's annual reliever award will be renamed for Mariano Rivera in the AL and Trevor Hoffman in the NL. 

- Heyman writes that the Orioles, Mariners and Brewers may have interest in free agent 1B/DH Kendrys Morales. Elsewhere, Heyman also names some potential fits for free agent SS Stephen Drew


- Angels: OF Josh Hamilton is scheduled for thumb surgery and will be out for the next six to eight weeks ... LHP Sean Burnett, who's on the DL after undergoing elbow surgery last August, has been shut down for the time being because of soreness. (Alden Gonzalez,

- Athletics: SS and top prospect Addison Russell will miss at least the next month after tearing his right hamstring, the team announced. Russell is assigned to Double-A Midland. Prior to his injury, Russell may have been on target to arrive in Oakland for good at some point this season. Now, that time-frame may be left to question. Russell entered the season as's no. 12 overall prospect. 

- Mariners: Have placed RHP James Paxton on the DL. He left Tuesday night's start with a strained lat muscle

- Marlins: Have placed RHP Jacob Turner on the DL with a shoulder strain

- Twins: Have placed OF Oswaldo Arcia on the DL with a wrist injury. 

- White Sox: OF Avisail Garcia left Wednesday's game with a shoulder injury. X-rays were negative, but he'll be evaluated further on Thursday in Chicago. 


- Mets: As ESPN New York's Adam Rubin writes, Ike Davis may have reclaimed the first base job from Lucas Duda
