RUMORS & TRANSACTIONS
Angels: Signed RHP Joel Pineiro to a minor league contract, the team announced.
Padres: Designated LHP Jason Lane for assignment, the team announced. The move clears a roster spot for RHP Andrew Cashner (elbow), who was activated off the 15-day DL.
Rays: Designated RHP Josh Lueke for assignment, the club announced. RHP Kirby Yates was called up in a corresponding roster move.
Twins: Agreed to sign 1B/DH Kendrys Morales to a one-year contract worth a pro-rated $14 million. It's an odd fit.
NOTABLE DRAFT PICK SIGNINGS
Astros: Have "a verbal agreement in place" with first overall pick LHP Brady Aiken. The bonus is believed to be worth $6.5 million, tying the record for a high school pitcher. (MLB.com)
