- Red Sox: Signed SS Stephen Drew to a contract for the remainder of the 2014 season that will pay him around $10 million

- Reds: Signed RHP Jair Jurrjens to a minor-league contract


- Angels: 3B David Freese was activated from the DL in time for Tuesday night's win over the Astros ... OF Kole Calhoun will be activated on Wednesday. (Mike DiGiovanna via Twitter)

- Cardinals: As expected, the Cards on Tuesday activated reliever Jason Motte (Tommy John surgery) from the DL. 

- Dodgers: Our own Jon Heyman has the details on Miguel Olivo's allegedly biting off a piece of teammate Alex Guerrero's ear during a dugout altercation. 

- Giants: RHP Tim Hudson (hip) should be good to return to the mound on Thursday against the Rockies (John Shea via Twitter)

- Indians: 2B Jason Kipnis (oblique) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday. If all goes well, he could be activated by next Monday. (Paul Hoynes via Twitter)

- Mariners: Have placed OF/1B Corey Hart on the DL with a hamstring injury. Nick Franklin has been recalled to take his place on the active roster. 

- Mets: RHP Matt Harvey (Tommy John surgery) is hoping to see MLB game action at some point in August. Of course, it remains to be seen whether the Mets are interested in such an aggressive time-table. 

- Phillies: LHP Cliff Lee is headed to the DL with an elbow strain

- Red Sox: Lefty Felix Doubront was forced to leave his start Tuesday night because of numbness in his shoulder. He'll undergo an MRI (Peter Abraham, Boston Globe)

- White Sox: LHP Chris Sale (elbow) could be activated in time to start against the Yankees at some point during the four-game series that starts Thursday in Chicago. (Dan Hayes, CSN Chicago) ... Closer Matt Lindstrom has hit the DL with an ankle injury

- Yankees: OF Carlos Beltran will test his injured elbow by swinging a bat on Monday. If it doesn't go well, then he's likely facing surgery


- Diamondbacks: Peter Gammons tweets that if/when new D-backs exec Tony La Russa gets around to replacing GM Kevin Towers, then current Cardinals director of player development Gary LaRocque could be a candidate to replace him.
