Nationals recall Tyler Moore, put Taylor Jordan on disabled list
Taylor Jordan hits the DL with a back strain while Tyler Moore -- who was hitting real well in Triple-A -- has been recalled.
The Nationals announced Saturday that first baseman/outfielder Tyler Moore has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse while starting pitcher Taylor Jordan on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain.
Moore, 26, is hitting just .151/.195/.283 this season, but he was a very good hitter last year (.840 OPS) and was hitting .318/.395/.584 with 14 doubles, 10 homers and 46 RBI in 45 games in Triple-A. So he has a shot to salvage his big-league season now.
Jordan, a 24-year-old rookie, is 1-3 with a 3.66 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in nine starts. Ross Ohlendorf is on a minor-league rehab assignment right now and appears likely to take Jordan's spot in the rotation.
