Orioles place Bud Norris on DL with groin strain
The O's are a man down in the rotation, as right-hander Bud Norris has hit the disabled list in a retroactive move.
The Orioles on Friday announced that right-hander Bud Norris has been placed on the disabled list with a right groin strain. The move was made retroactive to June 22. To replace Norris on the active roster, the O's recalled right-hander Evan Meek.
As well, right-hander Kevin Gausman has been recalled to serve as the 26th man on the roster for Friday's doubleheader against the Rays, as MLB rules permit. Gausman will start the first game of the doubleheader.
Norris, 29, has pitched to a 3.62 ERA and 2.14 K/BB ratio in 14 starts this season. The Orioles originally acquired Norris as part of a trade with the Astros at the 2013 non-waiver deadline. For his career, Norris owns an ERA+ of 93 across parts of six big-league seasons.
