PHOTO: Here's why the Ole Miss-Virginia game was suspended
The College World Series match-up between Mississippi and Virginia was suspended because of lightning. This image tells the story.
The 2014 College World Series is down to four teams: Virginia, Vanderbilt, Mississippi and Texas. On Friday night, two of those teams -- Virginia and Ole Miss -- had their game suspended in the second inning (0-0 tie) because of threatening weather. Here's photographer Thomas Wells with the visual evidence ...
Duly noted! Omaha can indeed produce some late spring/early summer weather events that have within them the power to halt a baseball game. So it was on Friday night. Mostly, though, I just find photos of lightning strikes to be very cool.
Ole Miss and UVa will conclude their game on Saturday, prior to the Vandy-Texas nightcap, provided Zeus permits it.
