Rangers place Tanner Scheppers on DL with elbow inflammation
The Rangers are down another starter, as right-hander Tanner Scheppers has hit the DL.
On Friday, the Rangers placed right-hander Tanner Scheppers on the 15-day disabled list because of elbow inflammation. To fill Scheppers's spot on the active roster, the team has purchased the contract of lefty Aaron Poreda. To make room for Poreda on the 40-man, the Rangers have designated infielder Andy Parrino for assignment.
Scheppers, 27, has struggled this season: a 9.82 ERA after four starts. In 2013, however, Scheppers was one of the Rangers' most reliable relievers, as he pitched to a 1.88 ERA and 2.46 K/BB ratio in 76 2/3 innings.
