Rangers scratch Ian Kinsler from Friday's lineup with bruised ribs

The Rangers have scratched second baseman Ian Kinsler from Friday's lineup. He is dealing with bruised ribs, apparently suffered on this ugly slide in Thursday's game:

That could have been a lot worse.

Kinsler, 30, is hitting .302/.369/.500 with seven home runs and three stolen bases in 39 games this year. He managed to play at least 155 games in both 2011 and 2012 after spending time on the DL in each of his first five big league seasons.

The Rangers will play their second game of a four-game series against the Tigers on Friday. They took the series opener 10-4 on Thursday.
