Rays' Matt Moore named to replace Yu Darvish on AL All-Star roster
The injured Yu Darvish won't be a part of the All-Star Game in Queens, but Rays lefty Matt Moore will be.
The other, lesser consequence of the Rangers' Yu Darvish being placed on the DL is that Darvish won't be part of the All-Star Game on July 16 at Citi Field. American League manager Jim Leyland has tabbed Rays lefty Matt Moore to replace Darvish on the AL roster (source: CBSSports.com's Danny Knobler). This will be Moore's first trip to the Midsummer Classic.
This season, the 24-year-old Moore has pitched to a 3.42 ERA (113 ERA+), 1.33 WHIP and a 1.85 K/BB ratio. He's also 12-3, which is probably why he's now an All-Star. Although the run-prevention numbers are solid enough, Moore hasn't truly pitched like an All-Star in 2013, particularly at the peripheral level (e.g., he's issued 53 unintentional walks in 100 innings).
