The Rays are down another pitcher. The team announced that right-hander Alex Cobb has been placed on the 15-day DL with a left oblique strain.

Cobb, 26, held the Reds to four hits in seven shutout innings on Saturday, throwing 87 pitches. It appears his oblique may have been bothering him as early as the first inning:

In three starts this season, Cobb has gone 1-1 with a 1.89 ERA (204 ERA+). He broke out last season by going 11-3 with a 2.76 ERA (138 ERA+) in 22 starts and 143 1/3 innings.

The Rays are currently without Jeremy Hellickson (elbow surgery) and Matt Moore (facing elbow surgery). Lefty Cesar Ramos replaced Moore, but it is unclear who will take Cobb's rotation spot.

Left-hander Jeff Beliveau was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding roster move. He has a 4.19 ERA in 19 1/3 career MLB innings.
