Rays play Looney Tunes on Trop scoreboard during power outage
A bank of lights at Tropicana Field went out during a storm on Sunday, so the Rays played Looney Tunes while fans waiting for the game to resume.
Thanks to a lightning storm in the area, Tropicana Field dealt with some power issues on Sunday afternoon. A bank of lights went out in the third inning of the Rays-Angels game (LAA 7, TB 5), stopping play for 19 minutes.
Rather than leave the fans to find their own entertainment during the delay, the Rays put Looney Tunes on the scoreboard:
Baseball episode, of course.
If nothing else, I'm sure the parents with young children in attendance appreciated that. Much better than the entertainment teams usually provide during a delay, generally old highlight shows everyone's seen a million times.
