Red Sox will unveil Carl Yastrzemski statue on Sept. 22
Later this month, the Red Sox will pay tribute to Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski by unveiling a statue outside Fenway Park.

Yastremski retired with 3,419 hits and 452 home runs following the 1983 season and was inducted into Cooperstown five years later. He hit .285/.379/.462 (130 OPS+) in parts of 23 big league seasons, all with the Red Sox. During his peak from 1965-70, Yaz hit .299/.404/.530 (158 OPS+) with 183 homers, 593 walks and 434 strikeouts. A .326/44/121 line won him the Triple Crown in 1967.
There is currently a Ted Williams statue as well as a "teammates" statue outside the ballpark. The "teammates" statue features Dom DiMaggio, Johnny Pesky, Bobby Doerr and Williams.
