The Red Sox will honor Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski by unveiling a statue at Fenway Park on September 22, Major League Baseball announced.

Yastremski retired with 3,419 hits and 452 home runs following the 1983 season and was inducted into Cooperstown five years later. He hit .285/.379/.462 (130 OPS+) in parts of 23 big league seasons, all with the Red Sox. During his peak from 1965-70, Yaz hit .299/.404/.530 (158 OPS+) with 183 homers, 593 walks and 434 strikeouts. A .326/44/121 line won him the Triple Crown in 1967.

There is currently a Ted Williams statue as well as a "teammates" statue outside the ballpark. The "teammates" statue features Dom DiMaggio, Johnny Pesky, Bobby Doerr and Williams.
