The Reds have activated right fielder Jay Bruce off the 15-day disabled list, the team announced. To make room on the roster, first baseman Joey Votto was placed on the 15-day DL.

Bruce, 27, missed a little more than two weeks following knee surgery. He was originally expected to miss 3-4 weeks. Bruce hit .216/.352/.363 with three home runs in 30 games before getting hurt. He has hit at least 25+ homers in each of the last four seasons.

The 30-year-old Votto has been nursing a knee/quad injury, though there was some hope he would be able to rest and avoid the disabled list. He was hitting .257/.410/.449 with six home runs in 39 games before getting hurt.

Skip Schumaker had played most of the time in right field during Bruce's absence. Neftali Soto, Brayan Pena and Todd Frazier have been splitting time at first base.
