Reds left-handed reliever Sean Marshall will make a minor league rehab appearance with the team's Triple-A affiliate on Monday night, reports's Mark Sheldon.

Marshall, 30, was placed on the 15-day DL with shoulder tendinitis two weeks ago. He is eligible to be activated on Tuesday, and Sheldon thinks he'll join the club right away if the rehab appearance goes well.

The shoulder started giving Marshall trouble during spring training, but he wasn't placed on the DL until a week into the season. He made one relief appearance, throwing a perfect inning with one strikeout against the Nationals.

Once healthy, Marshall will serve as a left-handed complement to right-handed setup man Jonathan Broxton. Aroldis Chapman will remain the team's closer, obviously.
