Report: Angels send Hector Santiago to bullpen
Struggling lefty Hector Santiago has reportedly been bumped from the Angels' rotation.
I'm told Hector Santiago is out of #Angels rotation, at least temporarily. Waiting to talk to pitching coach Mike Butcher.— Bill Shaikin (@BillShaikin) May 9, 2014
Santiago was listed as a reliever prior to Friday night's game against the Blue Jays. As Shaikin later notes, it's not yet certain who'll take Santiago's next scheduled turn on Tuesday.
This season, the 26-year-old Santiago has pitched to a 5.19 ERA and a career-worst 1.67 K/BB ratio after seven starts. For his career, he owns an ERA+ of 116 across parts of four major-league seasons.
The Angels acquired Santiago this past offseason from the White Sox as part of the three-team trade that send Mark Trumbo to the Diamondbacks.
