Report: Gallardo-Orioles deal hits snag because of physical
The two sides recently agreed to a reported three-year, $35 million contract.
Mere days ago, the Orioles and free agent right-hander Yovani Gallardo reportedly agreed in principle to a three-year, $35 million contract. Now, though, the deal may be in jeopardy thanks to the results of Gallardo's physical and the Orioles' interpretation of same. From Yahoo!'s Jeff Passan ...
Source: Questions have come up with Yovani Gallardo's physical with Baltimore. Status of deal is unclear. O's notorious medical sticklers.

As Passan notes, the Orioles take pre-signing physicals seriously, and in the recent past they've reportedly squelched potential deals with Grant Balfour and Tyler Colvin because they didn't like the medicals. Maybe this will lead to a restructuring of Gallardo's contract, or maybe he'll re-enter the market. All of that remains to be seen.
The 29-year-old Gallardo in 2015 pitched to a 3.42 ERA and 1.42 WHIP and logged 121 strikeouts in 184 1/3 innings for the Rangers. That marked the seventh consecutive season in which he worked at least 180 innings. SportsLine projects Gallardo to register a 3.75 ERA in 2016.
