Report: Twins make two-year offer to Mike Pelfrey
The Twins are reportedly making a push to retain free agent right-hander Mike Pelfrey.
The Twins, who've already this offseason snared Phil Hughes and Ricky Nolasco, are reportedly making a push to re-sign right-hander Mike Pelfrey. LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune initially reported that Minnesota had made a two-year, $10-million offer to Pelfrey, and now Neal tweets that the offer may be getting bumped up.
Last season, Pelfrey logged a 5.19 ERA (78 ERA+) and 1.91 K/BB in 152 2/3 innings for the Twins. He underwent Tommy John surgery in May of 2012, so there's hope for some improvement as he gets further removed from the procedure. For his career, the 29-year-old owns a 4.48 ERA, 90 ERA+ and 1.64 K/BB ratio.
